Whistler World Ski & Snowboard Festival
Spring has arrived, but Whistler isn't ready to let go of winter just yet! As the snow-capped Whistler and Blackcomb mountains keep their frosty charm, the annual Whistler World Ski & Snowboard Festival (WSSF) takes centre stage. Packed with jaw-dropping ski stunts, exhilarating snowboard competitions and back-to-back entertainment, the festival is a final hurrah for winter sports before the season melts away.
This multi-day celebration began in 1996, originally created to extend the winter season and boost tourism. Kicking off today and running until April 13 this year, the festival draws a global crowd of athletes, artists and revellers. A new addition this year is the grand finale of 'The Grind,' a street-style ski and board competition. Competitions like the classic Whistler race and Slush Cup keep adrenaline high, while photography exhibits and art displays offer a creative touch. After sunset, the town comes alive with concerts like the 'Battle of the Bands,' film screenings, cultural events and après-ski parties.
