iMess

Terms of Use

Effective 2026-07-30 · Operated by the operator of this iMess deployment

These terms govern your use of iMess, a private messaging service operated by the operator of this iMess deployment at imess.click/doc.

1. What this service is

iMess is a self-hosted, independently operated messaging messaging platform. It provides end-to-end encrypted messaging, group conversations and file sharing between people who hold an account on this specific server.

It is a private deployment. It is not a public service, it is operated solely by the operator of this iMess deployment, and holding an account on it gives you no relationship with any other organisation.

This server does not federate. Your account, your conversations and your contacts exist only on this server; you cannot message users of other other backends, and they cannot message you.

2. Your account

You need an account to use the service. When you register you agree that the details you give are accurate, that you will keep your password and your devices secure, and that you are responsible for everything done through your account.

Each device you sign in from registers separately with the server and holds its own encryption keys. Removing a device from your account invalidates that device's access.

3. Acceptable use

You must not use iMess to:

If you believe someone is using this service in one of these ways, report it to misuse@imess.click.

4. Your content

Message content is end-to-end encrypted between your devices and the devices of the people you are talking to. The operator cannot read it. That is a property of the protocol, not a promise of good behaviour — but it also means the operator cannot recover your messages for you if you lose access to every device.

You keep whatever rights you already hold in what you send. You grant the operator only what is technically necessary to run the service: to store, transmit and deliver your encrypted content to its recipients.

The operator does not review message content and, because of the encryption above, is not in a position to. Responsibility for what you send is yours.

5. Availability

The service is provided as is and as available, with no warranty of any kind. There is no uptime commitment, no support commitment and no guarantee that your data will be retained or recoverable.

It may be interrupted, changed or discontinued at any time, with or without notice. Take your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.

To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service — including lost data, lost messages or lost business.

6. Suspension and termination

The operator may suspend or remove an account that breaches section 3, or where required to do so by law. You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time from within the application.

Deleting your account removes it from this server. Copies of messages already delivered to other participants remain on their devices; the operator has no way to reach into them.

7. The software

iMess is provided under the iMess License. For more information about the iMess License, contact us.

8. Changes to these terms

These terms may change. The current version is always the one published at https://imess.click/doc/legal, and the effective date above changes with it. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.

9. Contact

Questions about these terms: support@imess.click. Reports of misuse: misuse@imess.click.

Note: inbound email to this domain is not currently monitored. If you need a reply, use whatever channel the operator gave you when your account was created.
